Order of Blood Draw Tubes and Additives
CLSI's own published statement of the order of draw from GP41, dated 19 March 2019. Six positions. Carries the exception that only blood culture tubes, glass nonadditive serum tubes, or plastic serum tubes without a clot activator may be collected before the coagulation tube. CLSI is the standards body NHA's test plan names; GP41 itself is not free to read, so nothing is restated from it beyond this published article.

PBT — Phlebotomy Technician
Used only for the comparison page. Confirms the non-refundable application fee of $155 and the seven eligibility routes. The ASCP content-guideline PDF returned 404 on 2026-09-22, so this site does not state the PBT question count, time limit or passing score; it links to the ASCP content guideline instead.

WHO Guidelines on Drawing Blood: Best Practices in Phlebotomy
WHO 2010, hosted by CDC Stacks. Used only for tube additives, their mode of action and the tests they serve, and for the capillary order of draw at section 7.1.3. Its Table 2.3 sequence is based on the 2003 NCCLS consensus and is superseded by CLSI GP41, so the sequence on this site follows CLSI, not this table.
